Michael Foster started gaining his 30+ years construction industry experience labouring for his dad’s building company in West Yorkshire in the 1980’s at the weekend and during school holidays.
Upon leaving school he went to Leeds College of Building where he successfully completed a BTEC Certificate in Building Studies whilst working for a local construction company on the tools.
Once qualified, Michael joined his two older brothers who were also in the building trade for a few years before starting his own small building company.
Having gained several years general construction experience Michael returned to study part time, at the British School of Waterproofing where he qualified as a Surveyor in Basement Waterproofing. He then began to successfully specialise in basement waterproofing works.
A couple of years later, Michael was approached by a national basement waterproofing contractor whom he had been successfully in competition with and offered a role with them as a Basement Waterproofing Specialist Surveyor.
Progressing from a surveyor to a Regional Manager in just a few years Michael was instrumental in expanding the company’s basement waterproofing division nationally.

Michael’s construction experience and conscientious approach to his work led him to be invited to join South Leeds Builders Merchants as a Product Manager.
He again progressed within this business to the role of Marketing Director.
Still interested in pursuing his interest in construction and particularly in the field of basement waterproofing, Michael continued to study part time gaining several industry recognised qualifications including a Diploma in Surveying Practice from the College of Estate Management, a CSRT (Certificated Surveyor in Remedial Treatments) and CSSW (Certificated Surveyor in Structural Waterproofing – a specialist qualification only about 350 people in the UK hold!
Michael was also trained by international waterproofing systems supplier Basement Systems Inc. in America in basement drainage systems and sump pumps.
Now a leading UK certified and experienced basement waterproofing specialist, Michael returned to a national waterproofing company in the role of Special Projects Manager before deciding to start Pure Basement Systems in 2010.
